The product

Automation as a service,
not a purchase

Home automation has always been sold the wrong way — a big upfront bill for hardware the resident may never fully use. HAAAS flips the model.

Installed for free

Builders fit the Smartcentric kit during construction. The hardware costs the resident nothing — automation becomes a standard feature of the home, not an expensive add-on.

Paid monthly

Residents — owners or renters — activate automation as a monthly subscription, resold by the property developer. No contracts inherited with the keys, no wasted hardware if they don't want it.

We run the tech

Smartcentric supplies the hardware, the cloud platform and the ecosystem integrations. Developers keep a recurring revenue stream without becoming a technology company.

How HAAAS works

  1. 01

    Builder installs the kit

Smartcentric supplies smart switch modules for lights and blinds plus a compact gateway. Fitted during construction — invisible, with the physical switches still working as normal.

  2. 02

We connect it to the cloud

The gateway links the home to the Smartcentric cloud platform. Everything is pre-configured before handover — no technician visit, no setup wizard for the resident.

  3. 03

    Developer offers the subscription

The developer or property manager offers HAAAS to each new owner or renter as a monthly subscription — a genuine point of difference for the listing, and recurring revenue for them.

  4. 04

    Resident just uses it

Lights and blinds appear in the resident's own ecosystem — Google Home, Alexa or HomeKit — or in the developer's own branded app. Move out, and the next occupant simply subscribes.

Turnkey home automation for builders & developers

A smarter listing.
A recurring revenue line.

You install the kit once — supplied at builder pricing — and the automation capability of the property is yours to resell, occupancy after occupancy.

  • Differentiate every listing. "Smart-home ready" as a standard inclusion, at a fraction of the cost of a traditional automation fit-out.
  • Recurring revenue. You resell the monthly HAAAS subscription to owners and renters. Tenants change — the revenue stays with the property.
  • Zero technology burden. Smartcentric handles provisioning, the cloud platform, ecosystem certification, your branded resident app and support.
  • Fits the build process. Modules sit behind standard switches and fittings. No exotic wiring, no proprietary panels, no design compromises.
  • Stays with the home. The hardware simply belongs to the property. When a home changes hands, the next occupant can pick up a subscription — a selling point, not a complication.

For residents

Your home, your ecosystem

HAAAS doesn't ask residents to learn a new system. It plugs into the one they already use.

Automation that feels like home — not homework.

Google Home

"Hey Google, lights off." Full voice and app control through the Google Home ecosystem.

Amazon Alexa

Routines, voice control and scheduling through any Alexa device in the home.

Apple HomeKit

Native Apple Home integration with local discovery — lights and blinds appear in the Home app, with Siri control.

Developer-branded app

Not in any of those ecosystems? A dedicated app — carrying your developer's branding, powered by Smartcentric — gives full control of lights and blinds, plus scenes and schedules.

Under the hood

The technology

A deliberately simple architecture: smart modules at every light and blind, one small gateway per home, and a cloud platform that ties it together.

HAAAS architecture: switch modules connect over Wi-Fi to the Smartcentric gateway. Google Home, Alexa and Apple HomeKit talk to the gateway locally, inside the home, while the gateway holds a secure tunnel to the Smartcentric cloud, which relays services such as mDNS discovery into the home network. Inside the home Wi-Fi secure tunnel local services · mDNS local network Light switch modules Blind controllers Smartcentric gateway Smartcentric cloud Google Alexa HomeKit
Switch modules talk Wi-Fi to a compact in-home gateway — and so do the resident's Google Home, Alexa and HomeKit devices, right on the local network. The gateway holds a secure, managed tunnel to the Smartcentric cloud, which does the heavy lifting behind the scenes and relays discovery services (like mDNS for HomeKit) into the home, so every ecosystem sees the lights and blinds as native local devices.

In-wall switch modules

A compact Wi-Fi module sits behind each light switch and blind controller. The physical switch keeps working exactly as before — with or without an active subscription. Automation is added, never substituted.

The Smartcentric gateway

One small, pre-configured gateway per home connects the modules and maintains a secure, managed tunnel to our cloud. Plug in power and network — provisioning is handled remotely.

Cloud with local reach

Our cloud platform manages every home fleet-wide, and relays local network services — like mDNS discovery for HomeKit — back through the gateway, so integrations behave natively inside the home.

The company

About Smartcentric

We believe every new home — and especially every new apartment — should be smart by default, and that the fairest way to pay for automation is monthly, by the people actually living with it.

Smartcentric is an Australian company with a single focus: making home automation a service, not a purchase. We work behind the scenes — supplying hardware to builders, running the cloud platform, and maintaining the integrations — so our partners can offer something genuinely new to their buyers and renters.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is Home Automation as a Service (HAAAS)?

Home Automation as a Service is a model where smart-home hardware is installed during construction at no upfront cost to the resident, who then pays a monthly subscription for automation features. Smartcentric's HAAAS covers smart lighting and blinds, works with Google Home, Alexa and Apple HomeKit, and is built for builders and property developers.

What is turnkey home automation?

Turnkey home automation means the entire system — hardware, installation, cloud platform, apps and ecosystem integrations — is delivered ready to use, with nothing for the builder or buyer to design or assemble. HAAAS is turnkey: modules fit behind standard switches during construction and every home is pre-configured before handover.

How do property developers offer home automation as a subscription?

With HAAAS, the builder installs Smartcentric's kit at construction cost. The developer then resells automation to each owner or renter as a monthly subscription under their own brand, while Smartcentric runs the platform, app and support behind the scenes. When occupants change, the next resident simply subscribes.

Does HAAAS work with Google Home, Alexa and Apple HomeKit?

Yes. Lights and blinds appear natively in Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit — the in-home gateway relays local discovery services such as mDNS, so devices behave like native local accessories. Residents outside those ecosystems use the developer-branded app.

Do the switches still work without a subscription?

Yes — always. Every switch and blind control keeps working like a standard one, with or without an active subscription or internet connection. The hardware is simply part of the home; HAAAS adds the smart layer on top.

Is HAAAS suited to apartments and rental properties?

Yes — apartments and rentals are where HAAAS is strongest. The hardware stays with the property, so each new owner or renter activates a fresh subscription without rewiring or reinstalling. That makes developer-ready home automation practical for build-to-rent and multi-dwelling projects.
